Dear Friends,

We invite you to join us on a pilgrimage to Italy as we experience Romans and the Renaissance in the steps of Peter and Paul. We have long had Italy on our bucket list, and we are excited for the opportunity to travel with friends, both old and new. As your hosts, we (Bruce and Joy, Tiger and Sue) anticipate a great adventure with an excellent travel leader from Footstep Ministries.

Italy is a land of culture and history, beauty, and culinary delight. We will tour the Italian countryside in Tuscany and Umbria, experience the grandeur of Rome, and, in the Footstep Ministries tradition, we will let Scripture be the lens through which we view all our experiences. The focus of this trip will be Paul’s Letter to the Romans and the final days leading up to the martyrdom of both Paul and Peter. Rome is a magnificent city combining ancient and new. As we tour, Paul’s powerful theological treatise will open before us in new and inspiring ways.

We will also gain insight into how the Renaissance awakened not only western civilization and culture but also the Church. The Renaissance’s renewed focus on literature and the arts restored interest in the foundational principles of life and faith. We will witness this when we marvel at the work of some of the world’s greatest artists like Michelangelo and Raphael, and architectural monuments in Florence, Pisa, Siena, and Rome. And our appreciation of God’s every day, ordinary blessings will be enriched when we share warm fellowship over genuine Italian cooking and the delights of Tuscan cuisine and countryside.

We are thrilled to be led on this tour by our dear friend Dave Sparks, from Footstep Ministries. The four of us traveled with a group to Greece in the fall of 2022 and saw firsthand Dave’s professional, learned, and experienced leadership. We were especially blessed by his gracious and warm hospitality, and first-class planning of every detail.

When we traveled to Greece, we discovered a delight in biblical and world history that we’d never found before – and seeing more of God’s creation was wonderful too. We expect this tour of Italy will be another unforgettable experience of discovery and growth for modern-day followers of Jesus as we look back upon the people and events that shaped us. We hope you will come and walk with us in the steps of Peter and Paul!
