A year ago, 60 friends of Biola toured Greece. This was a powerful trip, deeply moving spiritually as well as educational biblically and friend-building relationally. It went so well, we are planning another trip.

I would like to invite you to join Paula and me for an unforgettable 13-day pilgrimage to Greece, from May 19-31, 2019. Joined by other friends of Biola University, we will trace the footsteps of the Apostle Paul and immerse ourselves in the rich history and culture of the early Christian church.

We will tour cities familiar to us from the New Testament records of Paul’s ministry: Thessaloniki, Philippi, Ephesus and Corinth. Visiting these sites and walking in the places where Paul ministered to the early church, we will see the Bible come alive as we grow in our faith and gain a richer understanding of the New Testament. In addition to exploring the historical land of Greece, we will spend four days cruising the Aegean Sea and visiting the beautiful seaside port towns of the Mediterranean (including Ephesus and Turkey), enjoying both historical and modern culture of Greece through its beautiful nature, cuisine and people.

We are pleased to be joined on this trip by Dean of Talbot School of Theology, Dr. Clint Arnold. Dr. Arnold is an esteemed New Testament professor and has taught Talbot’s World of the New Testament course for 25 years. He has also written a historical commentary on the book of Acts for Zondervan, and was the general editor for the four-volume Zondervan Illustrated Bible Backgrounds Commentary on the New Testament. Dr. Arnold’s extensive knowledge of the history and culture of the Pauline writings will help us gain a deeper understanding of the biblical significance of the areas we visit and their relevance to our faith today.

Our tour will be managed and led by Footstep Ministries and Dr. David and Elizabeth Sparks. Dr. Sparks has conducted more than 100 tours to Greece, Italy, Israel and Turkey. With a pastor’s heart, he weaves together the Apostle Paul’s ministry, Greco-Roman culture and early church history. Elizabeth Iliadou Sparks is a native of Greece and will show us her homeland as only a native can do, introducing us to genuine Greek cuisine and local shopping markets.

Paula and I are delighted to be hosting another trip to Greece. It would be an honor to walk with you in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul where he shared the gospel of Christ with countless listeners. We hope you’ll consider joining us for this unforgettable journey.

Blessings in Christ,

Barry H. Corey
