Next summer, we would love to have you join us on a trip to Greece where we will explore the journeys of the Apostle Paul. This exciting tour offers you the opportunity to explore this beautiful part of the world and learn more about the apostle Paul, the greatest missionary and evangelist the church has ever known.
We will tour cities familiar to us from the New Testament records of Paul’s ministry: Berea, Thessaloniki, Philippi, Athens, Crete, Ephesus and Corinth. Visiting these sites and walking in the places where Paul ministered to the early church, we will see the Bible come alive as we grow in our faith and gain a richer understanding of the New Testament. In addition to exploring the historical land of Greece, we will spend four days cruising the Aegean Sea and visit the beautiful seaside port towns of the Mediterranean (including Ephesus in Turkey), enjoying both historical and modern culture of Greece through its beautiful nature, cuisine and people.
Leading us on this journey will be Dr. David Sparks and his wife Elizabeth Iliadou-Sparks. With a pastor’s heart, he weaves together the Apostle Paul’s ministry, Greco-Roman culture and early church history. As we travel together, David will be sharing insights with us into how the first century context shaped Paul’s gospel message and how his message of Jesus Christ continues today to inspire and encourage those who want to follow him. Elizabeth is a native of Berea and will give us an insider’s view of her homeland, taking us off the beaten path to provide an unusually rich and gracious experience of Greek culture and cuisine.
David and Elizabeth are personal friends we’ve known and traveled with before. They are wonderful people that will make this part of the world come to life in an altogether new way!! We can’t think of anything more incredible than to be able to share this amazing journey with our dear friends from First Presbyterian Spartanburg and First United Methodist Alvarado. We hope you’ll consider joining us for this unforgettable journey.
